JUSTICE AND PEACE
Almost a year has passed since the catastrophic events of September 11th 2001. Are we any nearer to an understanding of why these attacks happened? Is the world a safer place? Has justice been done and been seen to be done? Have we actually learned anything from these events? All this may seem a long way from Thorne/Moorends but these matters affect us all and more so as Christians in an often hostile world. On Saturday September 28th there will be the annual diocesan Justice and Peace day at St. Bernard's School, Rotherham. There Pat Jones from Cafod will attempt to "Read the signs of the times", the theme of the day. For the past three years I have attended this day and found it a very valuable source of information, ideas and support. The day begins at 10.30 a.m. and ends with Mass at 4.00 p.m. If you are interested in going please let me know (Kate Heywood - 813117) Since I do not drive it would be enormously helpful if someone who has transport would go and we could share the costs. I have to send in details soon of the numbers attending from the parish and it would be great if more people could go with me - so please consider if you could go.
