MAINTENANCE COMMITTEE REPORT
Since our last report the maintenance committee has undertaken the following tasks -
Replacement of the Presbytery downstairs windows and doors.
We have undertaken to replace all the windows that were in need of replacing (for security, damage, etc.) but have included one upstairs window, which was in a particularly poor condition. After obtaining three quotes it was decided to give the work to " Roy Grant Windows" at a cost of £2,950 with a Ten Year Guarantee.
Renewal of the Garage roof.
This was given some priority as a hole had appeared in it (causing further damage). The work was carried out by "Parkes Associates" at a cost of £990 for the roof and £410 for new plastic fascia and guttering.
Provision of new fire extinguishers in the Church.
The old extinguishers were considered unsafe and in all probability unusable. These were replaced at a cost of £100 with an annual check.
Decoration of rooms within the Presbytery.
A number of rooms are still requiring attention, but 4/5 rooms have been completed. Many thanks to all who gave of their time to make these rooms more habitable, with a special mention to Glynn, for the many tasks that he has undertaken, making life easier for us. We are presently preparing a new (old) Mass announcement board for the front of the Church. This is the original board that came with the Church. On Friday 15th February we had a meeting in the Presbytery with Tom Garrard (from The Diocese), who is going to supervise all the work on replacing the Church roof, and representatives of "Parklands Roofing". The work is set to begin on Monday 8th April and will take 6/7 weeks to complete. The scaffolding will be erected on Tuesday 2nd April. The roof will be of the same material as before (Rosemary clay tiles) and be replaced at a cost of £16,578 including a provisional sum of approx £2000 to account for possible extra costs. The guttering will be replaced/repaired and the clay cross retained. We hope to create as little disruption as possible!
There is one point however----the fence side of the Church will require clearing prior to the scaffolding going up. VOLUNTEERS!!!!!!
It is only after the roof has been replaced that the plasterwork inside the Church can be addressed. We have obtained one quote (after many phone calls) but hope to secure more before the work is undertaken. The quote is from C & G Plasterers, at a sum of £995. The quote was obtained 6 months ago and so may now be more expensive.
Once again, many thanks to all who give up their time to contribute to the running of, and repair of our Church. There is still an awful lot to do, but many hands make light work.

BECAUSE I CARE
I go on at you from time to time But the reason is you see It's only that I love you, and you mean So much to me. To ignore things would be easier Just pretend there's nothing wrong But we both know that the problem Would be back before too long. I can't adopt this attitude And one you'll see why Even though I get you down Every day I'll try. And one day in the future It may be when I'm gone, You'll sit down and you'll realise Just why I did go on.
