Thorne Moorends Town Council
Originally set up some years ago, and then not updated until late 2002, when it was redesigned in a simpler clearer style. Since then it has been regularly extended and updated by a dedicated volunteer. Take a look, you will be surprised how much information you will find there

Thorne & Hatfield Conservation Forum One of the features of life in Thorne over the last few years has been the endless speculation over the future of Thorne Moors. Behind the scenes the Thorne & Hatfield Conservation Forum has worked tirelessly to secure the future of both Thorne and Hatfield Moors before Scotts could strip off all of the remaining peat. In 2002 DEFRA finally stepped in and bought out the rights of Scotts for £17 million, thus securing the future of two wonderful wild areas. Strangely most residents admit to never having set foot on the moors, perhaps it is yet another case of not valuing what is on our doorstep

Thorne House Services for Autism Thorne House Services for Autism is a specialist organisation providing a range of services for those affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorders(ASO).
They were established in 1987, originally to provide residential services for young adults with Autism who were leaving residential schools and for whom no specialised provision existed locally. Since then they have grown significantly and now provide 'building based' services in Thorne, Doncaster and Sheffield.
Within Thorne they provide residential accommodation for thirty three young adults in four flats and four community houses. Day Services are provided from the Bradmere Centre which caters far the more dependent student. A 'vocational workshop' is also in the early stages of development. Places are available both to their own residents and those attending on a daily basis from their own homes.
