Part 6 of the text from the "St Joseph and St Nicholas, Moorends GOLDEN JUBILEE 1939 - 1989" booklet
"Let the loud and harmonious song of our people rise to heaven by their melodious voice, that they are indeed one heart and one soul, as befits those who are brethren and children of the same Father:'
(Papal Encyclical - Mediator Dei)
The crowning glory in the church at Moorends should surely be its liturgy, The Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy describes it as "the summit toward which the activity of the Church is directed; . . . the foundation from which all her power flows:'
The living faith of the parish is expressed by our wholehearted participation in its worship. The whole purpose of the Church is realised when Holy Mass is celebrated regularly. The church rings out to the sound of hymns, psalms, acclamations and prayers of all the people, voices raised in unison proclaiming the Glory of God and the Holiness of God. Such involvement by all the people is indeed reason for optimism, and leads us to pray in thanksgiving: Thanks be to God - the faith of our forebears is living still.
This brief history is basically a summary of the booklet which was published in 1989 to mark the Golden Jubilee of the current Church.
