Part 1 of the text from the "St Joseph and St Nicholas, Moorends GOLDEN JUBILEE 1939 - 1989" booklet
It is my pleasure to write a foreword for this Golden Jubilee Brochure.
The booklet gives an account of the history, not just of the church, but of the parish of St. Joseph and St. Nicholas, Moorends. These pages tell an impressive story which I know will interest many.
When the history of our own generation comes to be written it will be seen that a new phase in the life of the Catholic community in Moorends has recently begun. After many years service by the Premonstratensian Order the parish was transferred to the Diocese in 1987 and so a new history is in the making.
It is my hope and prayer that the Golden Jubilee, which this booklet commemorates, will not only help us look back to the greatness of the past but to look forward to the glories God has in store for the future.
May the Moorends Golden Jubilee be a time of rejoicing and gladness.
Gerald
