Fr. Pannell has requested that this year both parishes focus on doing what we can to alleviate the effects of the famine in Southern Africa
The response has been excellent, among the efforts so far

  • 2 coffee afternoons in Stainforth raised £392
  • Ladies meeting in Moorends raised £170
  • Donation to Cafod from funds - £300
  • Lent Fast Day for Cafod raised £233
  • Large jar in Moorends Church has collected £205 in loose change
  • Easter Quiz by Tony Shay, £195 raised.
  • Grand Auction in Thorne on May 17th, £425 raised
  • Further £33 from the large jar in Moorends porch August 31st.

Quiz sheets, with a TV Programme theme, are available at Stainforth and Moorends Churches. Each question sheet costs £1.00, and you can purchase as many as you want!

Coffee Morning

Monday February 24th at 10:30 at the Moorends Presbytery. Tickets 30p. Proceeds to the Famine in Africa campaign
The sum of £170 was raised, and excellent effort, thanks to all who contributed.

Coffee Afternoon

6th Mar 2 p.m. at the home of Bernie Robertshaw, 85, Mile End Ave, Hatfield.
The remarkble sum of 237 pounds was raised - well done everyone

Coffee Afternoon

13th Mar 2 p.m. at the home of Kitt Young, 18, Bullivant Rd, Hatfield

Many thanks to all those who supported the recent Coffee Afternoon hosted Kitt Young. A grand total of £155.50 was raised for CAFOD.

Lent Fast Day for Cafod

If you have not recived envelopes for your contributions saved by eating simply on this day, then please ask next weekend at Mass.
Update
233.45 pounds was the final sum collected, many thanks for a magnificent effort.
Approximately half of this was gift aided, so Cafod can claim another 40 pounds from the government

Lent Fast Day for Cafod - Holy Family School Stainforth

Friday 14th March
Evry Friday during Lent there is a Mass at 12 noon to which all are welcome. On the 14th there will be a Cafod Lent Lunch after Mass

Grand Auction

Saturday May 17th at 10:00 in St Nicholas Church Hall, Thorne
See Kate's article for full details. £425 was raised in total, of which £225 has gone to Cafod and £200 ro Christian Aid
